Special Services
Housebound Service
Masterton
District Library offers a Housebound Service for those people
who are unable to get to the library or find it difficult
to carry their borrowed items home.
The
housebound service is available as an ongoing service, or,
on a short term basis for those who have had recent surgery,
accident or illness, that means they are temporarily unable
to access the library. Take advantage of the friendly and
personal service from Maureen Bull, who is happy to talk to
you about the service you receive. For Housebound Borrowers
there is no charge for reserves or overdues but any lost or
damaged items may incurr charges.
Maureen
visits all new Housebound Borrowers and discusses with you
what you like to read. Housebound materials are chosen, by
Library staff, each fortnight for a family member, carer,
or Rest Home operator to collect. Book
bags, which hold up to 10 items, are provided for transporting
the loans and returns.
If
there is no-one to bring your books to you, a volunteer driver
will deliver to residents within the urban area each fortnight.
Rural
residents can still make use of the service and need to make
arrangements for delivery and return.
Housebound
borrowers can access any issueable items from the Masterton
District Library collection including:
- Fiction
or non-fiction books
- Large
print books
- Talking
books
- Coffee
table-type pictorial books
- Magazines
If
you, a friend or a relative would like to use the service,
or you have any further questions about becoming a Housebound
borrower, Maureen will be very happy to talk to you by phone
(06) 370 6255 or in person. Maureen is available in the library each week
day between 8am and 3pm.
