This 4th book in the Egyptian series continues the previous high standard! The Nile had failed following a number of plagues that cripple the Kingdom. Taita is sent to discover the cause and must travel to the source and in unexplored lands to the South. He must call on all his powers of magic and the supernatural to use against the unknown enemy lying in wait. The enemy turns out to be a woman with powers seemingly equal to his own. The battles against the climate, cannibals, the animal life and the supernatural are intense. Even a mighty volcanic explosion may or may not help him and his companions. Eventually Taita wins out and returns to Egypt. We leave him beginning another search – this time for the source of eternal life. An absorbing book of adventure in the time of the Pharaohs.

I enjoyed this murder story about a sole charge policewoman officer in a small New Zealand town. A woman's body was found murdered and as the policewoman was a former lover of the woman's husband she becomes a suspect. This has a different ending and I shall look for more stories by the same author.
