A New Zealand book set in Wellington and Sydney. Adam 40ish is relaxed about his engineering factory. Second wife Louise is the ambitious one with her P.R. business. He gets on well with her 2 daughters who he has encouraged to learn diving, his great passion. An invitation arrives for a reunion of a tour group 17 years before. How will Adam, Louise and Judy (his first wife) and her ex husband Phillip handle this? Surprisingly the reunion goes quite well until Adam finds he has a son he didn’t know about. Then shocking news from new Zealand forces an early return for the two couples. Familiar setting, family dynamics and unexpected twists.

Book of the Year (Younger Readers) by the Children's Book
Council of Australia, 1994.
The
first story in the Rowan of Rin series, Rowan
of Rin. introduces Rowan as a sad, fearful and
lonely young boy. By the end of the story everything has changed.
The adventures and journey that Rowan is forced to take to
save his village sees him grow as a person. One by one the
adults drop out of the quest as they face their own fears
and foilbles.
This
is a must-read, especially for children trying to find their
way in the world. It's best to read Rowan of Rin
first, as the character is developed in this book. Rowan
of Rin is followed by Rowan
and the Travellers, Rowan and the Keeper of the Crystal
and Rowan and the Buksish .

Title of Book : Miss Julia Strikes Back
Reviewed by : Book Club Member
Category : Fiction
Suggested Audience :
I had not heard of this author before. The story is a satire on life in old-fashioned, small town Southern State of Carolina. Miss Julia is elderly and very stubborn. She plays amateur detective and is very unorthodox in her solving of a mystery, which takes her on a long car ride from her home to Florida. She takes along her grandson, Lloyd, who is about 13-years-old, and an acquaintance called Esta Mae Wiggins, who has never travelled far or had much experience outside her state. Various eccentric characters are introduced along the way. Miss Julia is a devout Christian, a Presbyterian and has much faith in prayer. I found this book enjoyable. It is the sort of reading one lifes to do while travelling or holidaying at the beach.
