Takawaenga ā Rohe

Masterton District Library

We are looking for an enthusiastic person, with experience and knowledge, to liaise between Maori communities and the library as the Takawaenga ā Rohe (Māori Team Librarian).

We need someone who has relevant skills for working in a library environment and is able to provide a Māori focus for library support, programmes and services to Māori customers and library staff. The role focuses on relationship building, promotion of library services and resources, collection development and library technology skills for Māori. This role will also contribute to Library wide activities, projects and initiatives.

You will have a commitment to supporting Māori development and literacies, a strong customer focus, a passion for working with children and families and enjoy working as part of a team. We offer professional development opportunities and a chance to make a real difference.

The position is a 25 hour a week permanent appointment with a rostered four hours on a Saturday. There is also the opportunity to work extra hours, as agreed, particularly for the Te Reo Summer Reading Programme in December and January.
